Most of my data and information pertains to LaCrosse, Trempealeau, and Buffalo counties. Anyone joining this project should post which parts of the state they are most interested in.

Hello,
I am interested in Milwaukee County, Washington County, Ozaukee County, and Marinette County of Wisconsin.
I have Wisconsin Civil War veterans documents that I can add. They are of the Otto families of Wisconsin.
My families of interest in Wisconsin are: Otto, Lederer, Laun, Lemke, Stiles, Christ, Schlehlein, Scheiderer, Paulsky.
How do I add those documents to this project?

Linda! Neat!

So here's how you add documents to this project. I believe you can do it in two ways, the short description is; (1) you can add it to this project directly, and then link individual profiles to those files, OR you can (2) add the document to a person's profile and then link the document to this project.

Here's how you do each:

1.) Go here - http://www.geni.com/projects/Settlers-of-Wisconsin/10880 and click on the right hand side where it says "Photos and Documents"

From there you click add documents. Once a document is added, you can add each individual profile to that document for each person who appears in the document.

To also connect that document with a person's profile, you need to view the document itself (Top menu - Research, and then click Documents) Click the document you are working on, and from the document view window on the right side there is a link to "Profiles - Add" Clicking Add lets you choose which of your profiles are cited within that document, and then that document becomes connected permanently to the profiles you specify.

OR

2.) You can go to an individual person's profile (someone found in one of your documents) and click "edit profile".

From the edit window on the right side you'll see a little document icon with a question mark next to it. Hold your mouse over that document icon and click "Add a Source"

That brings up the upload document window where you can specify what type of historical record it is, and then select which document to upload. Once uploaded that document is now connected to the person you uploaded it to.

To also share that document with a project, you need to view the document itself (Top menu - Research, and then click Documents) Click the document you are working on, and from the document view window on the right side there is a link to "Add to Projects" Clicking that lets you choose which project to share the document with.

-----------------

Hopefully that makes sense! :) Give it a try and let me know if you have any trouble.

Stephen, I think I got 3 pages of the historic document of my second great grandfather uploaded to his profile. I linked to two other projects but cannot seem to get it linked to Settlers of Wisconsin. I would like to get his profile into Settlers of Wisconsin also. How can this be achieved?

Linda, I just accepted your request. I am not sure why you couldn't add it yourself, but I'm looking into it!
