It might be worth doing some cleanup on your PC like clearing the browser cache.
Several such problems have also been fixed by first logging out and then enter this link to clean up Geni cookies:

In the upper left hand corner of the tree view you'll find the words (usually in black text):
"... profile's Tree, Showing ### profiles..."
Clicking on the text will reload the tree view and usually fixes the blank boxes for me.
When I get a tree like that, I simply move the blank boxes off the screen then move them back onto the screen and the page "fixes" itself.
Somehow it just gets stuck sometimes-
I have no Idea if it really has anything to do with cookies- if it did you would think it would just stay stuck untill you cleared them.
We'll just call it a magic trick and try not to understand it. LOL
