Hi Diane,

Thanks

Hi Carlie,

It is on the website: www.caudlepublishing.co.uk and can be bought from them. There is info about the times in which he lived, and about his family. He was rector of the village nearby, and later of Barley. Not many people have heard of him, even those interested in his grandson, the first Mayor of New York.

It is simply organised and easy to read, but includes research information.

Long time ago -16th century! How did you come to know about him?

I have Willett's all over my tree. I have no direct line to that particular Willett YET. There's always more information out there. I believe I have around 8 Thomas Willett's on my tree. Very popular name...

Any Willetts from Leicestershire Carlie? Diane

Hi Diane,

Mine are all from New Richmond, QC. There was a large British/Scottish population settled there in the 1800s. New Richmond is a very small town, and it seems everyone married a Woodman, or had a cousin who married a Woodman. I went there this past summer and photographed 2 cemeteries, and there is a handful of people that aren't somehow tied into the tree...yet. I know the Willett ancestors are from England, that's about all I have. I am in touch with a Peggy nee Willett who has done quite the extensive family tree research. So I just sent her the link to see if she knows the connection. Here's hoping :)

Willett appears to be quite a widespread name in England. My branch is Leicestershire - where I am still, and originally the name was Woolett. Good luck with your resesarch.
