It is believed that Jane was the illegitimate daughter of Margaret Hope who had a liaison with Sir Richard Sefton Molyneux.
There are not records of Sir Richard and his wife nee Lady Frances Gerard of Sudbury. having a daughter Jane together.

Thanks for fixing Geoffrey. I know how easy it is for facts to be assumed by others as "gospel" and passed on and on. However, I will continue to make myself unpopular by pointing out errors I notice and no doubt others will correct me too.
