I just had to clean up two families - Samuel Wilbor 1663, son of Shadrach Wilbor and Mary Dean(e) and Samuel Wilbor 1664 Rhode Island, son of William Wilbor of Rhode Island and Martha ----.

Most of the children of Samuel Wilbor 1664 of Rhode Island and Mary POTTER were under another Samuel Wilbor and Hannah PORTER.

i locked the fields of a bunch of Wilbors in this family, as well as made many MPs, which will hopefully prevent future bad merges. For the most part, I rely upon The Wildbores in America which I realize has some issues.

I suspect that this family needs a clean up and a lot of fields locked and MPs made to prevent all the people with similar names being merged. Please take a look and let me know when you need my help.

Also, in the older generations, I use "Wilbor" since that is what appears to be prevalent and also have the alternative names Wilbore and Wilbur so they will be found in search. In the later generations, many of this family use "Wilbur" instead.

Peggy J Mitchem If you have a link of an older generation of your Wilbur family that you can post here (a public one), I would be interested in how and when some got to TN. Nice to meet you. I hope you'll take photos on your trip.

I have locked field in some of the older generations and will lock more fields if I need to, to prevent bad data slipping in. This way only a curator can approve merges / edits. I hate to do this but with older historic families with a lot of repeated given names from generation to generation and within the same generation, it's sometimes necessary. I will happily unlock a field if someone has a change to make with supporting evidence. I will also be happy to look things up in New England Genealogical and Historical Society (NEGHS) online. I have an account just for this purpose.

Peggy J Mitchem - I suspect that if your grandmother is Wilburn, it's a different family than Wilbor/Wilbur.
