They are living on the farm Furuhem which he is hiring. Jøren (Joren) is born in 1887 as the seconf oldest child.

She is born May 9th 1887, baptised July 7th 1887 in Mo church.

I can probably track your norwegian ancestry several generations further back, but that will be some work.

Remi, I can't thank you enough for your help with my Grandmother, Joren's family. I only wish I could read Norweigan. Living in America, we have a very difficult time understanding the "farm" names. It makes it very difficult to trace our ancestors. I have so many questions that I'd like to ask you, but I see that you require a fee for your services(as you certainly should) and I'm not sure if I could afford it. I am in my middle sixties and this research I'm attempting to do will end up in a book that I plan to give to each of my three grown daughters. Announcementdays: Nov. 11th, Nov. 18th and Nov. 25th 1883.
The announcements were asked for by the groom.

Where the parents live: Rønningen.
Father born 1858, mother born 1859.

Remi, thank you for translating for me. It helped a lot. My real grandmother was Berthe K. Ronning who immigrated over in 1907. Her immigration record states her passage was paid for by her brother living in Wilmur, MN. We assumed this was Anton Ronning, however we are confused why he doesn't show up on the census you sent. He was 13 years older than Berthe. Maybe he wasn't a brother after all? We have no information on him. Berthe married Johannes T. Koed in 1910. She had two children: Ellen (1912) and Bertha (1914). Bertha was my mother. Anyway, Berthe died right after the birth of my mother. Johannes then married her sister Joran who had immigrated over in 1911 with her other sister Sigrid. Joran is the one who raised my mother. Together Johannes & Joran had a son, Arnold.
It's been really hard finding much on this side of my family, but it sure has been exciting finding out bits and peices and you've helped me understand so much more!! I truly appreciate it!

One more question: Can you tell me who Randi Hanriette F Ostmoen's parents were? I'm still having a hard time with Norwegion Names/Farms.

Parents are number 3131 and 3131, brothers: 3133-3135 and 3139, sisters: 3136-3137.

The column Alder means Age in1866.

No. 12 1860, born 20th December 1859, baptised Januaray 8th 1860. Rangdi Henrikke, ægte (born in wedlock). Parents: Gaardmand (Farmer) Fin Pedersen og (and) Jøranne Hansdatter Østmoen (the word Øst means East). Witnessesw: Fin Sørensen Østmoen, Aslak Pedersen Bakken, Søren Finsen Østmoen, Ragnild Olsdatter ibd. (ibd means the same as staeted before, in this instance the farmname Østmoen since that is the farmname of Søren Finsen), Kari Pedersdatter ibd. (she is also living on the farm Østmoen as stated by the ibd.) The last column with the word "nei" that means "no" states that she was not baptised at home before she was baptised in church.

Remi, thank you so much for all the information. I have forwarded it to all of Joren's grandchildren and they also are amazed and grateful. We thank you so much. Knowing now that Ronning and Ostmoen are farm names makes things a little clearer. I know that Ronning is in Nord-Odal, Hedmark, Norway and wonder is Ostmoen is located there too or somewhere else. I will begin to look up Norway and information on the locations. I see that Hedmark borders Sweden. Is farming the main industry or maybe logging too? I have Joren's death certificate here and they list her mother's name as 'Ragnhild Ronning' .I asume my grandfather, John Koed, gave the information. She was 72 years old when she died. She and John are buried not far from where I live in Wisconsin. We all wonder if her sister, Ragnhild and brother, Sjonne, who remained in Norway ever married and had families. Both farms are in Nord-Odal county, in Hedmark. But they are not very close together. 10 miles in a straight line.

Hi Remi - I'm trying so very hard this weekend to compile all the information you have sent us and compile my book (which I am giving you most credit for). I have one last big hang up though which is driving me absolutely crazy. I'm wondering if you could possibly help by sending me a 1880 or 1890 census showing the children of Kristoffer and Rangdi. I am still wondering if they had an older son not shown on the 1900 census that would have immigrated over here. Possibly by the name of Anton Ronning. On my grandmother's immigration manifest it states her passage was paid for by her brother which she was going to see in Wilmur, MN. I have much evidence of an Anton Ronning, but cannot confirm whether it is indeed her brother. I know you have done so very much for me, but if you could possibly assist me with this last peice of the puzzle I would be truly grateful. I am unable to work the website because it's all in Norwegion to look it up myself. Sure wish I could read Norwegion. Thanks again for everything...Sue
