Upload photo as you usually do

Then Click “Edit” next to the Project field UNDER the image
Select the desired project

Now the photo will appear on the project’s page!

Only one image can be displayed per project so if there is already one there it will be replaced by any new image loaded - but not always! There are problems. This tool is not to add images of people who are connected to the project - those must go onto the profile pages - but to illustrate the project. Once there they cannot be edited. They can be removed (theoretically) by clicking the edit link alongside the project field under the image in your folder, and then clicking the x next to the project.

Hopefully the little foibles will be ironed out!

It is probably best to add images only if there is not yet an image there - or if you have one that would be better suited. I think it would be a good idea to start a discussion asking other collaborators if it would be a acceptable to change the image. Unless we do this I think we will have "edit wars" over images!!!

Oh PS. Sometimes you have to DOUBLE-CLICK ON THE PHOTO you uploaded
before you get the option to Click “Edit” next to the Project field UNDER the image

This has been somewhat simplified since 2012:

Once you've created the project,
just click on <Photos and Documents> (top right of your screen)
then click on <add photos> (also top right of your screen)
then click on <Drop the file etc> to upload the doc,
and make the resultant doc the project picture by clicking on that optiion.

Don't forget to cite your source under attribution.

Terry Jackson (Switzer) on how to put a larger version of the project photo into your project as well:

- Go to 'full size' picture and copy that url: eg https://www.geni.com/images/missing_image.png

and paste into project main page but remove "https:" and replace "original" with either "medium" or "large" and surround this all with {{ }}
eg {{//media.geni.com/p13/06/6b/c2/42/5344484136177ee1/provinces_of_france_large.jpg?hash=eec41090179fc3bf817a56bf3e6baabae73390caceb96160f4634e92dc63b142.1758005999}}
