John "The Immigrant" Hatchett - evidence of his parents?

Now that my tree has been merged into the common one, I have a question. I know it is commonly copied around that John was the son of Thomas, but other than the coincidence of name, is there actually any evidence that actually links them together. I have never seen any primary sources given to support this connection.
