On Jan 29, I requested assistance for deleting a profile by submitting a ticket. On Feb 15 I received an automated response from Monica Cruz which did not address my problem or help at all. On Feb 15 I reworded my request and resubmitted it.

Since then I have not had any replies, but noticed that on the right hand side of the request page that it said my request was solved! That is not the case.

On looking through the Public Discussions, I saw that Mike Stangel said to someone: I work for Geni.. sorry to hear of the difficulties! ... The normal procedure would be for you to open a support ticket at http://help.geni.com

It seems to me that getting the ticket does not get you a reply. So I am using the Discussion pages now to try and sort my problem out.

Who can help with a deletion question please?

Please, please contact me if you get any response at all from Geni.

I am one of the many bystanders of this site who've been blindsided by personal information published on this site by a naive, reckless distant relative. It is astonishing to me to discover a Genealogy site whose policies so cavalierly sacrifice sensitive information in a truly "Public" way. I've had nothing to do with Geni. Nothing. And it allowed all sorts of log-into-your-bank-online information to be published for any Google search.

When I finally threw up my hands and "joined" the site, just to send messages to my (previously totally unknown -- is he even a relation? just someone who slapped some data up?) relative, I discovered to my dismay that he was quite unresponsive. Again, Geni.... How is it even possible that the people running this site didn't consider what would happen if a registered user left the site?

Oh, and let me add: The main privacy page here strongly implies that I am dead, and that the child who found my profile and told me about it is over 13. Neither of those things is true.... Happily the FAQ version of the privacy policy sweetly tells me that I have the option of begging the poster to give me access, but reassures me that maybe it isn't my name anyway, 'cause there are lots of people out there.

As I said: Unreal indifference, cavalier recklessness. One of my easier options at this point appears to be screaming, in all the discussions I can find, "I am ALIVE, not DEAD!" But NOBODY WOULD LISTEN.

Private User Unfortunately, Monica is no longer with Geni and when she was removed from the system it changed the status of her tickets to solved. However if you reply to the ticket with the information that she requested the ticket will be reopened.

Ian Westray We do not have any other matches to your name on the site. You can send a email to misconduct@geni.com with a link to the profiles in question and someone will respond to you.
