I have discovered, on a reliable French site, that the existing du Plessis ancestry, stemming from researchers in South Africa is incorrect!...The ancestry from Guillaume du Plessis (died after) 1213, to Guillaume III du Plessis (died 1373), spouse Charlotte de la Celle is correct; however, Guillaume III had two sons : Sauvage, the younger one, (died 1409) spouse Isabeau le Groing;.. this is the line everyone has been following. There was however, an elder son called Pierre III, (died 1401)..He married Radegonde Vigier..The line from there is as follows:.Jean du Plessis (died 1446) spouse Catherine Fretard; Mande du Plessis (died 1458) spouse Marie de la Tousche ; Sauvage du Plessis (died 1512) spouse Francoise l'Eveque; Francois I du Plessis (died after 1520) spouse Madeleine de Champropin; Francois II du Plessis (died after 1545) spouse Francoise de Charge married 22nd March 1541..
Hello Erica, I found this information on http://racineshistoire.free.fr/LGN/PDF/du_Plessis-Richelieu.pdf ...I recently discovered my own du Plessis ancestry, but when I looked at the info on sites, & trees out there, it didn't add up..Dates didn't make sense..Also I had never read anything about the Francois du Plessis mentioned, having more than one wife..On some trees it mentioned three!..It so happens, that one of the "wives" that popped up, Marguerite Boisleve, is in fact Francoise de Charge's mother!..Her father is Joachim de Charge, seigneur de Buxeuil..His parents were George de Charge & Pregente de Bresdon..I have some further ancestry on those lines, I have since discovered...I have also found the correct du Plessis line on another French ancestry site..It's a shame really, as the incorrect line gave some more exciting ancestry..But you still get Charlemagne on the correct one!
I do have full prove and sources, even from Franch about the du Plessis line. I h ave originally put the correct line on but it always gets totally screwed up. Once we even lost the complete line when somebody deleted all the profiles.
I agree with the de Charge mother and if you sent me links I will again try and fix it. This is my direct line from my paternal grandmother and needless to say I have really spend thousand of Rands to get this lkine totally correct.
I once said I give up on the Geni way because the same things happenover and over.
