Guten Abend mein herr und mein frau.
That's about the limit of my German and i've probably spelt it wrong and used bad grammar.
Sorry.

My enquiry revolves around my great grandfather Josef Schiefer, the verbal histroy that i have from my father is that Joseph was in the German army, lost a leg at Verdun and recieved the Iron Cross.
Does anyone know of an online source that i can search German military records to try and trace this story? In English bitte.

Thanks, Alex

Hello Mr. Moes, are you a descendant of the Moes family of Breckerfeld? The eldest Moes, I know, is Johann (Hans) Moes, ca 1615-ca 1680, merchant at Breckerfeld, oo Maria Saalmann. I would mail you the informations about this familiy, I collected (not much), if you are interested.
My mail adress: Rotger(at)Snethlage(dot)info. If yes, please write to this adress. "Schiefer" I don't have in my short collection. Regards Rotger
