My name is Gerhard Brodtkorb. I live in Mesnali, a small place
12 km. from the town Lillehammr, Norway.

My fathers aunt`s name was Astrid Stockfledt, her birthname was
Steensen. She was the sister of my grandmother Østine Steensen.
She was married to the Policechef Stockfleth of Oslo.

If you want I can take a look into the matter?

Go to "Norwegian Digital Archives" and the portal for "search all databases":

http://da3.uib.no/cgi-win/WebGlobal.exe?spraak=n

1) Set year range to 1500 - 1900
2) Set left scrollbar to "Førenamn" (Surname)
3) Set right scroll bar to "børjar på" (starts with)
4) Enter "Stock" and click "hald fram" (continue)
5) Click on all the suggestions that look relevant and you will find ca 44 Norwegian Stockfleth´s
6) Click on the nr "44" left of "funne" (found) and they will all appear in the right hand window - sorted by county
7) Tick off the various boxes in the "Kommune" (county) row - and click on the names that appear and you get the details for each individual

Repeat the excercise with "Stok" and you find ca 45 more. Oldest entries you will be searching are from the 1801 sensus. Pluss some odd public documents that go further back.

thanks for the help, I will see if I can add some Stokfleths to get a link between the Netherlands and the Scandinavian. Would be nice and to me rather unexpected. groeten van jeannette.

According to "Store Norske Leksikon" http://snl.no/Stockfleth the Norwegian Stockfleth family originates from Eggert Stockfleth († 1638) who emigrated from Haderslev in Denmark to Drammen in Norway.

On the Norwegian genealogy forum there is a tread discussing the origin of this family branch in Denmark. http://www.disnorge.no/slektsforum/viewtopic.php?t=71701. Mentions e.g. a Jacob Stokvliit in Aalborg in 1459 and a Thomas Stokflet in Holstein in 1367.

Most Norwegian church books back to mid 18th century are scanned and available on the web. Lots of terrible handwriting and usually a pain to read ;). Sensuses are digitized and searchable back to 1801.

Hans, seems very comparable tp the Swedish books, same story, back until aro 1700, more under certain circumstances - and if you come from a nobility line or a long line of priests.

Yes, I may 1, recently 2 big gravlax every Christmas. Kind of speciality of mine, 72 hours cured - and the sauce, that is the heart of this dish :)
