What exactly does it mean for one's tree to have a limit? If i were to upgrade to geni pro and then be able to have and see greater than 100 relatives - say 550 for sake of argument - would each of my relatives be then able to see greater than 100 as well?
or does everyone on the tree have to upgrade (not happening) for everyone to see all relatives?
said yet another way, if i were to upgrade to geni pro, would those benefits accrue only to me or would they (indirectly) accrue to others on my tree as well?
I have a question in the same spirit re merging trees - is merging a global concept or a per user concept?
As far as I understand, all are able to see more than 100 profiles, regardless of what level the subscription is. But, when they reach the max level of their membership they cannot add more profiles, anywhere. It is not enough that one relative has pro, each user wishing to add profiles need to upgrade to next level of subscription if their own subscription's max level has been reached.
Benefits will only be only for you, if you take Pro.
Only Pro users can merge profiles. I don't understand what you mean with "global" concept.

"We made a slight change last week. Anyone that has been invited to a tree that has reached the 100 profile limit will now be able to add 5 profiles" -
For Basic -- The limit of 100 family members means once that is reached, you cannot add any more - except, apparently changed above so folks who have added less than 5 themselves can now add some (up to a total of 5, if the Family has more than 100 members).
You and your family can see all the family members who have been added, you will still (under current rules) be able to see everyone you added while Pro - and still manage and edit them - when / if you return to being Basic.
As with Lars, I don't understand your question about merging. Possibly this will help, or it may have nothing to do with what you were trying to ask: One merges two profiles - hopefully of what is, in fact, the same individual. Since each is likely attached to other Profiles each in its own Tree (or branch), they sort of come-along, and the two trees are then stuck together. This often creates a lot more work which needs to be done - tho Geni does make some of this follow-up easier with their Tree Conflict Screen.
