I believe my ancestor Dennis Barnes (born-abt 1765 SC; died- between 1850-1860 Benton County, TN) married Hannah Whelchel, but have no proof. However, Dennis Barnes 3rd child was named Davis Whelchel Barnes and it seems reasonable that may show a connection. I will gladly share information if anyone can help with this.
