חברים יקרים גם יכולים לענות בעברית אם יותר נוח לכם!!

I repeat from a previous discussion, I am really digging for information about the Yasgur family, who remained in the Minsk area.

I grew up in the States. If we did not lose direct relatives in the Shoa, our parents LIED to us and said that all the family came over in the early 1900's--just to protect us. It was really hard for me as a man in his 50's, who began his serious genealogy hobby, to find more and more and more. I had to report to Yad Vashem, a brother of my great-grandfather who was murdered at Babi Yar; he wasn't in the data base. But I also had the wonderful duty to report my cousin Jenny who survived and lived into the 1990's, and she was listed as missing. That was sweet:)

I will be happy to help you with research on families to emigrated to the States. I am very good at this. I have access to census records up to 1930, (72 year privacy rules) ship manifests, citizenship certificates with a LOT of information, military draft cards, social security death records, US phone directories, some marriage certificates, etc.

As I mentioned in another discussion, if you can help me with Minsk, I would appreciate it and maybe we have some family ties. I even found a tie to me by marriage to Eliezer Ben Yehuda!!

I also have all the information to contact the Berlin committee you need to get a "Stolperstein", a bronze stepping stone which they inlay in the sidewalk in front of the building which was the last place that the person lived by his own free will, before deportation. It is engraved with the name, birth and death dates and date of deportation and to where.

I also have two cousins emigrated to Israel from Germany and were living in Israel at least until the 1970's but I found nothing. I am afraid that they might have "hebraised" their family name. Are there Israeli telephone directories available somewhere?

Chag Sameach, shabbat shalom,
Mark
