Hi Alexander! Sir Thomas is my 15th great grandfather and you are my 14th cousin! So cool to hear from you...since you live in the town where my great grandfather was born. His name was known to the family as Stephen James Eubank and he's always been a mystery in our family, since he abandoned my grandmother and her 3 small children in about 1919, never to be heard from again! A search of census records shows him at the age of two years old in 1870, living in Sedalia, MO, with his parents, James Joseph Eubank and James' second wife, Else Rouser. His name on the census is not shown as Stephen James Eubank is not listed under that name on the 1870 census, but rather is listed as Uselle or Abselle, so that was very puzzling. I've always wondered if my mother and her sister and brother had some "half" siblings somewhere, if Stephen James Eubank remarried after he left my grandmother. Don't know where to start to try and unravel this mystery!
Best Regards, from your 14th cousin, Della Dale Smith
By the way, our Lord Mayors of London project is always looking for more help! (In fact, I don't think we even have an overview yet...) If this is something you're interested in, please consider joining us: http://www.geni.com/projects/Lord-Mayors-of-London
What I have found is that most people who descend from one Lord Mayor often descend from a few others, just because there were *so many* over time. Lord Mayors changed every year and it wasn't lineal, so literally hundreds of families held the title. You can run through the list of Lord Mayors we've found so far and figure out which other ones might be ancestors of yours. :)
Terry Jackson (Switzer)
Thanks so much for pointing this out! I have changed the example profile to the first profile for the project. http://www.geni.com/projects/Lord-Mayors-of-London
Boris Johnson doesn't belong there. He is a Mayor of London, not a Lord Mayor of London.
Note the difference between

and

[I added Boris and removed him quickly when I realised this!]
That's too bad. He has a great genealogy and he's a great entertainer.

OK you got me. That is interesting -- although it would be more fun to find Turkish in my ancestry.
One of my favorite ancestors is Boris' and mine's 14th gg
Archibald "Bell the Cat" Douglas, 5th Earl of Angus

Terry, as I stated in my post above, we never got around to making the project description. So please, everyone, feel free to join and do some work! :) Thanks to David for doing some cleanup.
We have the full list of all Lord Mayors in the Documents area of our project: http://www.geni.com/projects/documents/Lord-Mayors-of-London I got the list directly from the Lord Mayor's office. Feel free to consult it when adding people. :)

So it looks like I'm more closely related to Thomas.
Dunno what a direct cousin relationaship is though.
