I am wanting to find my family in Croatia.
All of our files were burnt so we know very little about our family.
The town were my great grand father lied was 20km from Podgora, it was something that sounds like emecke, but it has a k and a j in it, perhaps imoskje, or emoskji something similar.
Phillip Erceg married Cimm Lendrich around 1860
They had 8 children, 4 boys, 4 girls, two of the boys were killed in the war both at age 18, one was after 2weeks in the war, they joined one of the sides, either tito or maahabitcho, sorry about spelling,
three of the sisters were in a town which in english sounds like sobritza ( i do not speak croatian so do not know what it would be), there was alot of killing there, i think they may have died. The other sister pera married someone Ozich, and one of there childrens throats were slit, but he survived. Pera had a lot of land which was left for her son, so there will be a record some where. Then my nanas father, PETRA GRGO ERCEG, it is not a nick name i found out, it is his real middle name. he was the youngest and born around 1886-1880, he left for new zealand at 15 to avoid fighting in the war like his brothers, and the mother gave him the engagement ring for money and him and a few others walked to italy then caught a boat to new zealand, and learnt english on the boat ride. Petra had three kids, amy erica and two brothers, one of which just died recently.
if anyone knows any information about either of the three last names, please let me know as i really want to meet my distant family, thanks
