I have started this discussion where requests for help can be submitted, in English language, for problems with the Finnish tree (including the ceded region Karelia).
As long as in this coffee tent nog geen translators in de coulissen staan to make it easier for foreigners to catch a cup, please do also communicate in one of some international languages like Chinesr, English, Spanish, Russian...? Or do i make a mistake and are you communicating in SKANDINAVIAN, then maybe we should merge the different places to meet and greet people overseas to a new bigger restaurant. What do you suggest, brothers?
Or maybe we should look at the other international initiatives like the International DUTCH, FRENCH, GERMAN u.s.w. Portals? No problem either as long as we can find each other to communicate mutual aspects of finding ancestry and descendancy abroad. To my view, ofcourse, maybe there are already other conference room to be able to find people who can help with our overseas projects like the Noordsche Compagnie and the visits of Tsaar Peter uit Sint petersburg to Amsterdam en Zaandam, I think?
sorry, sorry, sorry Steve Harald Styrbjörn Gattulf Palmqvist maybe that's the reason someone vanished my initiative for different meeting places ? Hope to see it back, de possibility to meet Norwegian, Swedish, Danish en Islandic people while we catch a coffee and talk about how to merge files from Holland, Bergen, etcetera.
Hi!
As i have very limited knowledge of the Finnish language I hope someone would be willing to help me out a bit!
Where would I go online to find scanned records, such as birth/baptism, marriage and death?
Firstly I want to try and find my grandparents birth records (if available), both born in Nyland (Porkala and Lappvik) the years 1922 and 1931.
Hopefully I can learn how to search by myself if I just know what kind of Finnish words I should look for.
Very grateful for any help!
Hi Malin,
Records are not available on internet after 1911. You need to contact the parishes to get paper copies (they take a fee for the work).
For older data (usually before 1850) the links are http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/index.htm and http://digi.narc.fi/digi/puu.ka. The old church records are mainly written in Swedish.
No, not in the near future. You'll have to wait at least until 2022 and 2031 respectively. Even then it's not sure as sshy is based on voluntary work and in digi.narc they use a 120years boundary on any part of the church books. So if only one page of the book is from an era later than 120 years ago, the whole book will be restricted.
